WOW! today in The Wrap I found this headline for an article by Sharon Waxman:
Young men, once the pillar of blockbuster math, were largely no-shows. Exit polls by Lionsgate show that the audience skewed 61% female and 39% male. THE WRAP
This seems to have also applied with The Twilight Saga so The Hunger Games is basically just proving that Twilight was not just a one off.

Well, may I just say, DUH? something like 80 percent of books are bought by female consumers across the board, and finding a book a guy will like has been discussed. So why is this a surprise? If you make a movie from a book, usually with a female readership, it's a movie women will go to see at least at first. Boys might start to trickle in later.
What do you think, are guys necessary for a franchise?

On a personal note today, I was late because I had an early appointment at the eye surgeon. I was told they can not currently fix my left eye because additional surgery (post PRK and RK) may cause my cornea to collapse. The chance was one in a hundred and that was a chance neither I nor the surgeon want to take. Plus, it is possible the cornea will continue to deform due toi prior surgery or a disease process. If not, then more surgery may be possible. Driving Glasses or Contacts...
What ticks me off is that leaving the screening two weeks ago, I was told I needed to have this consultation with the surgeon so he could discuss my options for surgery. I specifically asked if he wouldn't be seeing me if surgery wasn't possible? I didn't want to waste time or money if it was not surgically possible to correct my left eye. The screener assured me that he had seen my report and wanted to discuss options. Well the options was that he didn't want to do surgery. I told this to the surgeon today. His response was that it wasn't something he could tell me in thirty seconds. AGH!
