When I was just a young woman I thought David Steinberg was the funniest person I had ever heard or seen. And, he was attractive and cultured as well. That was my pre-teen self and my old lady self still finds him smart, funny and attractive in the elder-statesman ways of the entertainment industry. From 2005 to 2007 he had a program called Sit Down Comedy with David Steinberg that was one of the first things I had on my I-Pod. He interviewed many comics or comic actors: among which Ray Romano, Jon Stewart, and Robin Williams stood out for me.
Premiering on Sunday, January 26, 2012 at 11PM on Showtime, David and Steve Carrell (as producer) will bring us Inside Comedy (previous name, according to The Huffington Post, "Laughing Stock"). Steinberg will be using his own sharp wit to give us all a glimpse into the comic mind.
“We have gathered a monumental assortment of comedic legends, and their contemporary protégées,” said Carell. “It’s enlightening, fascinating, but more importantly, it’s funny.”
“What makes our show unique is you will see the comedian’s connections to each other and to those who have influenced them in the past,” said Steinberg. “It’s like getting a look at a comedy tree of the last five decades.”

The show will feature interviews from the pioneers like Mel Brooks and Don Rickles as well as today's comedy powerhouses, like Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, Larry David, Ellen DeGeneres, and Judd Apatow, Tina Fey, Jane Lynch and Sarah Silverman. The past, present and future of comedy will be looked at and we'll get insight into how these stars developed their voices, their influences and important moments in their careers.
