Wow, before SERENITY, Gina Torres starred as Helen Carter in a two season show Cleopatra 2525 that I came across searching for unfindable episodes of LOST GIRL. It pretty much is horrible all around save for some comic moments.
Wow, before SERENITY, Gina Torres starred as Helen Carter in a two season show Cleopatra 2525 that I came across searching for unfindable episodes of LOST GIRL. It pretty much is horrible all around save for some comic moments.
The future is portrayed as a gritty subterranean place with 3 women and a robot doctor fighting off, well, everyone else. In the first episode they shoot their way onto the surface of the earth to steal the technology of the machines ruling the surface, the Bayleys (spelling?). Sounds like the show was conceived by some pals who had a little too much Baileys and a whole lot of too much money.
Costuming and Makeup are atrocious and derivative. In episode two, "Creegan," there is a character of the same name dressed as the Joker from Batman with a prosthetic chin that begins to separate.
Torres gives the show gravity. Victoria Pratt, a well-educated martial arts, body-building and fitness specialist and writer., lends her physical abilities as a fighter and athlete and her acting is better than her lines. Jennifer Sky is Cleopatra, an actress/exotic dancer who provides the comic relief and high pitched screaming.
Dressed like escapees from a Frederick's of Hollywood fitness department fashion show who were attacked by a bedazzler the whole thing is comedy from beginning to end.
