Ninety-Four Days and What Have I Read?

It has nothing to do with anything but it is cute.

Between January 1 and February 16 (the first 47 days of the year) I had read 41 books. I listed them in WHAT ARE YOU READING? WHAT HAVE YOU READ?

From February 17 to April 2 (46 days) I read 35 more. I seem to be slowing down as I've only read 77 books now in the first 94 days of this year.

Heroines: Who Do You Love?

What makes a heroine, or a hero for that matter?  Sometimes we say that heroes are the ones who run towards the battle instead of from it. But there also needs to be a greater good involved, usually the saving of something, a puppy, a person or people, the world/galaxy/universe.  I think it also has to be that things don't just happen to the person and they dig their way out. There has to be some intent of putting others before self. I also like imperfect people acting heroically.  You don't have to be a saint to be a heroine.

As I read and reviewed FORGIVEN by Jana Oliver yesterday for today's post on Fangs, Wands and Fairy Dust,  my thoughts strayed to heroines I like.  Stacia Kane's Chess Putnam (Sacrificial Magic, out in June!!!)  is in a poll right now and that made me think, also, about which are my favorite heroines.  

WHO ARE YOUR FAVORITE HEROINES?

I am fickle in that my favorite is probably whoever I am reading at the moment.  But right now I would say these are my five six faves in the Paranormal Romance/Urban Fantasy Genres:

• Rachel Morgan from The Hollows series by Kim Harrison
• Jayné Heller from the Black Sun's Daughter series by MLN Hanover
• Mercy Thompson by Pat Briggs' eponymous Mercy Thompson Novels
• Chloe Neill's Meritt, Cadogan House Sentinel from the Chicagoland Vampires

I also like Jaye Wells' Sabina Kane.

CW "THE HOLLOWS" Pilot Script

According to a Harper Voyager Press Release, Carol Mendelsohn, who has certainly been incredibly successful as a producer with CSI, is developing the Hollows Series by Kim Harrison into a series for the CW.  The CW has ordered a pilot script written by Jordan Hawley who wrote on SMALLVILLE and MOONLIGHT.  The CW is no stranger to spooky fantasy stories and also seems open to trying things out. They have has amazing runs with SUPERNATURAL and THE VAMPIRE DIARIES. 

In a post last fall Lesley Goldberg of The Hollywood Reporter wrote:

The CW, meanwhile, has given script orders to a pair of fantasy dramas: Unearthly and The Hollows.
Based on the book by Cynthia Hand, Unearthly revolves around a girl who realizes that her destiny is to become an angel. The drama reunites Hellcats executive producer/writer Kevin Murphy with the network. He'll write and executive produce the project alongside Mendelsohn and Weitz.
 
The Hollows also marks another reunion for the young-skewing network, with Smallville writer Jordan Hawley executive producing and penning the project. Based on the book by Kim Harrison, Hollows would continue the network's relationship with witches -- Kevin Williamson's The Secret Circle was picked up for a full season this month. The urban fantasy world drama revolves around a private investigator/witch who works with local law enforcement agencies to combat threats both mundane and supernatural. Last Fall's news happened to coincide with the release of THE HOLLOWS INSIDER which I looked at  yesterday in Fangs, Wands and Fairy Dust.  In The Hollywood Reporter on January 25, 2012 Lesley Goldberg and Lacey Rose reported that Mendelsohn has several projects in the works at   TNT,  FX and the CW through an overall deal at CBS.

I'm hoping to find out what is happening to the series right now, but it is not in the CW's Unscripted line-up for this summer.  Who would you cast?

Al Pacino for Algaliarept?

Now, I would dearly love to see this as a TVseries, but I see issues, namely: 1. Jenks and 2. Jenk's mouth may be an issue.  In A PERFECT BLOOD, Ceri makes Jenks have less of a potty mouth around her kids but the flying dude thing may be tragically hokey.  I will update when ever I get any other news.

Better vision may be just a tune-up away and if my husband travels it is apparently all that is needed for snow to fall.
